The Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan discussed the prospects of cooperation with the Republic of Rwanda

Astana, April 21, 2025 — Representatives of the Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Rwanda to the Republic, Mr. Charles Kayonga, as well as Trade Attache, Mr. Lucas Murenzi, in Astana.

The parties discussed the development of bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation in preparation for the official visit of President of the Republic of Rwanda P. Kagame to Kazakhstan and participation in the AIF-2025 Forum. Special attention was paid to the prospects of cooperation in the fields of metallurgy, agro-industrial complex, tourism, heavy industry, electrical engineering and military industry.

Diana Zhakutova, Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the Military-Industrial Complex, stressed that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and the Republic of Rwanda in 2012, there has been a stable development of political dialogue. She also noted the potential for expanding trade and economic cooperation: in 2024, imports from Rwanda to Kazakhstan amounted to 381.7 thousand US dollars, the main categories of supplies were textiles, tea, as well as women's and men's clothing.

During the meeting, a discussion was held with representatives of the Kazakh companies Raimbek Group and ZerdeFito, invited at the request of the Rwandan side. Raimbek Group expressed interest in importing fruit concentrate from Rwanda, while representatives of Rwanda expressed interest in the production and packaging technologies of goods.

Following the talks, the parties exchanged contacts and agreed to hold online meetings with business representatives to work out possible projects in detail, including cooperation in the field of fuel and lubricants.

The Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan confirmed its readiness to provide comprehensive support to entrepreneurial initiatives and to promote the expansion of economic dialogue between Kazakhstan and the Republic of Rwanda.
