The Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan held a roundtable with the participation of German businesses
On April 2, 2026, a roundtable with the participation of representatives of German businesses was held in Astana, organized by The Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan in cooperation with the German-Eurasian Economic Union. The event served as a practical platform for advancing bilateral trade, economic, and investment cooperation between Kazakhstan and Germany.
The event was attended by Murat Karimsakov, Chairman of the Board of The Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan, Hanno Stöcker, Director of the German-Eurasian Economic Union, as well as representatives of companies including Drache Umwelttechnik GmbH, Herrenknecht AG / Herrenknecht Tunnelservice, Kalenborn Kalprotect GmbH & Co. KG, Fortis West LLP, DKF Deutsche Kugellagerfabriken GmbH, Dirostahl Karl Diederichs GmbH & Co. KG, KRD Sicherheitstechnik GmbH, VEM motors GmbH, Invest-Project & Trade e.K., Amandus Kahl GmbH & Co. KG, and Atlantis Zollspedition GmbH.
Opening the event, Murat Karimsakov noted that Germany is one of Kazakhstan’s key partners within the European Union; however, the current level of engagement does not fully reflect the existing potential. In this regard, the priority today is to move from discussions to the practical implementation of joint projects and the launch of concrete initiatives.
“We view this meeting as a practical platform for building direct and effective interaction between the business communities of Kazakhstan and Germany. Our key objective is to shorten the path from the first contact to the implementation of a concrete project,” he emphasized.

It was noted that the positive dynamics of bilateral trade confirm the strong interest of the business community in expanding cooperation. By the end of 2025, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Germany reached USD 4.4 billion, marking a 9.5% increase. Kazakhstan’s exports amounted to USD 1.2 billion, with key items including oil, ferroalloys, cable products, and agricultural raw materials. Imports from Germany totaled USD 3.1 billion, showing a 10.3% increase, with pharmaceuticals, industrial equipment, power generation units, automobiles, agricultural machinery, and engineering products comprising the main share.
During the discussions, it was highlighted that Kazakhstan offers a favorable business environment, a strategic geographic location, and a consistent state policy aimed at attracting investment and developing industrial cooperation. The Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan, as a subsidiary of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Atameken,” provides access to a wide network of enterprises, industry associations, and regional chambers, acting as a single-window platform for engagement with Kazakhstani businesses.
Particular attention was given to key areas of cooperation. These include localization of production with access to the markets of Central Asia, the Caucasus, and China; development of industrial cooperation and establishment of joint ventures; formation of sustainable logistics routes considering Kazakhstan’s growing role as a transit hub within the Middle Corridor; as well as the introduction of green technologies, including energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, and environmental solutions. In addition, the agro-industrial sector was identified as a promising area, including deep processing of agricultural products and the development of export-oriented production using modern technologies.
During the roundtable, representatives of German companies presented their activities, shared information on ongoing projects and future development plans, and outlined potential areas of cooperation with Kazakhstani partners, including partnership development, establishment of distribution networks, and expansion of their presence in the Kazakh market.
In addition, a signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Cooperation between Kazakh Nickel Ltd. and the German-Eurasian Economic Union took place at the venue, aimed at developing industrial cooperation, expanding investment interaction, and launching joint projects.
The event confirmed the mutual interest of the parties in deepening business ties and establishing sustainable cooperation mechanisms focused on achieving practical results and implementing joint initiatives.
