The Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan took part in the Kazakhstan-Ukraine Business Forum held on April 1, 2026, at the EXPO International Exhibition Center in Astana. The event aimed to promote bilateral trade, economic, and investment cooperation between the two countries.

The forum brought together representatives of government bodies, diplomatic missions, business communities, and industry companies from Kazakhstan and Ukraine. The official opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleksandr Mishchenko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Kazakhstan Viktor Maiko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Ukraine Tolezhan Barlybayev, as well as representatives of профильные state institutions. From the Kazakh side, welcoming remarks were delivered by Bauyrzhan Zhaksylykov, Member of the Board and Chief of Staff of the KazCIC.

In his speech, Bauyrzhan Zhaksylykov outlined key areas where Kazakhstan and Ukraine can move from dialogue to the practical implementation of joint projects.

The agro-industrial sector was identified as one of the priority areas. Kazakhstan possesses significant land resources and a growing export potential, while Ukraine has strong competencies in agricultural production and processing. In this regard, joint projects in processing, storage, the introduction of agricultural technologies, and subsequent export to foreign markets are seen as promising.

Significant potential was also noted in industrial cooperation. This includes opportunities to build joint production chains in mechanical engineering, metal processing, and raw material processing, targeting markets in Central Asia, the Caucasus, and China. This approach will not only expand production capacity but also enhance product competitiveness.

Special attention was given to oil refining. Kazakhstan is implementing plans to modernize small-capacity oil refineries with a focus on producing light petroleum products. These projects may serve as a basis for joint development and attracting Ukrainian partners.

Pharmaceuticals and medical product manufacturing were also highlighted as promising areas. Amid growing demand for localization and pharmaceutical security, cooperation in this sector may yield tangible economic benefits.

The IT and digital solutions sector plays an important role in strengthening cooperation. Opportunities are being explored to integrate Ukrainian and Kazakh technologies into industry and services, which will improve business process efficiency and accelerate digital transformation.

During his speech, Bauyrzhan Zhaksylykov also emphasized the importance of building effective mechanisms of cooperation:

“The Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan is focused on providing practical support to businesses – from partner search and organization of B2B meetings to contract support and implementation of joint projects. Today, it is important not only to identify promising sectors but also to establish effective cooperation mechanisms that bring initiatives to concrete contracts and investments,” he noted.

In this regard, it was proposed to form sectoral pools of companies with a clear understanding of their export and cooperation potential, launch targeted B2B negotiations for specific projects, organize business missions with pre-arranged partners, and ensure full support of transactions at all stages – from initial contact to implementation.

As part of the forum, presentations of investment and industrial projects were held, along with B2B negotiations between business representatives of the two countries, enabling participants to discuss specific areas of cooperation and outline перспективные initiatives.
