Assan Zhakishev’s Delivered a Speech at the Turan E-Trade and E-Export Forum in Baku
Today, November 26, 2024, the international Turan E-Trade and E-Export Forum took place in Baku, gathering business representatives and government officials from Turkic countries and other regions of the world. The Head of the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan, Assan Zhakishev, highlighted Kazakhstan's achievements in e-commerce and emphasized the importance of regional cooperation.
In his speech, he shared that within the framework of national strategy, Kazakhstan plans to increase its share of e-commerce to 20% by 2030. Achieving this ambitious goal will be ensured through supporting domestic online retailers, developing courier services, and improving transport and logistics infrastructure. The government has already approved a Comprehensive Plan for E-Commerce Development until 2027, focusing on enhancing logistics and warehouse capacities.
“E-commerce is reshaping global trade, and Kazakhstan positions itself as a key player in this process. As the digital landscape evolves, we aim to enhance our e-commerce platforms, streamline logistics chains, and promote cross-border trade. Through this forum, we hope to explore opportunities for cooperation in e-commerce, export, and digital trade. We invite participants to tap into Kazakhstan's rapidly growing e-commerce sector and its potential for international partnerships,” Zhakishev added.
He also noted that the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan actively strengthens its position on the international stage, acting as a bridge between businesses and government bodies. In 2023, the Chamber organized over 100 business events, attended by more than 3,500 entrepreneurs from Kazakhstan and abroad. These efforts resulted in the signing of export-import contracts and investment agreements worth $2.2 billion.
“Our representatives in Türkiye, China, Germany, and Afghanistan are actively working to create new opportunities for collaboration. We aim to become leaders in e-commerce in Central Asia by enhancing logistics efficiency, developing online retail, and simplifying cross-border trade," he said.
It was noted that the Turan E-Trade and E-Export Forum brought together over 500 companies, as well as representatives of embassies and government agencies. The event featured B2B meetings where participants established business contacts and discussed prospects for cooperation.
