A networking session with representatives of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry was held in Almaty

On July 21, 2025, with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Republic of Indonesia and the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan, a networking session was held at the Regional Office of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs “Atameken” in Almaty with representatives of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN).
Reference: The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (https://kadin.id/en/tentang-kadin/) is the central coordinating body for entrepreneurship in the country. KADIN’s business network covers all provinces and municipalities of Indonesia, bringing together business associations from all sectors of the economy: 549 offices, including 34 regional chambers and 514 district branches. Currently, around 100,000 Indonesian companies are registered with KADIN. In 2022, the Kazakhstan Cooperation Committee was established under KADIN.
In his welcoming remarks, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Indonesia, Serzhan Abdykarimov, noted the progressive development of bilateral relations and emphasized the importance of strengthening trade and economic cooperation with Indonesia’s business community, highlighting the growing interest in Kazakhstani products in the Indonesian market.
In turn, Director of the Almaty Regional Office of “Atameken” Chingiskhan Mamanov and Head of the Permanent Committee for the Asia-Pacific Region of KADIN, Yohannes Lukiman, highlighted the significant potential for cooperation, especially in the SME sector. They confirmed their readiness to enhance collaboration between the two organizations and to hold regular B2B events between the business communities of both countries.
According to Serik Amirov, Special Representative of the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan in ASEAN countries, the Republic of Indonesia is the largest economy in Southeast Asia, accounting for about 37% of the total GDP of ASEAN. It is classified as a “second-wave newly industrialized economy” and ranks 27th in the world in the Global Competitiveness Index. In recent years, the country’s economy has been steadily growing at around 5% annually, and in 2024, its foreign trade volume reached USD 498.36 billion. Last year, foreign investment in Indonesia increased by 20.8%, amounting to USD 108.5 billion. Indonesia is Kazakhstan’s third-largest trading partner in Southeast Asia. In 2024, bilateral trade turnover between the two countries reached USD 300.5 million. Despite the continued positive trade balance in favor of Indonesia, Kazakhstani exports show a steady growth trend. Close cooperation with KADIN will undoubtedly allow Kazakhstani companies to expand their presence in the Southeast Asian market.
During the event, representatives of JSC “NC KAZAKH INVEST” and JSC “QazTrade” presented prospective investment projects and export goods of Kazakhstan for potential supply to Indonesia. The local consulting company “Family Prosperitas” shared its experience in supporting foreign companies entering the Kazakhstani market, including legal support, market analysis, taxation, labor law, and other issues.
As a result of the meeting, agreements were reached to explore the possibility of opening a showroom of Kazakhstani export products in Jakarta with the support of KADIN, to facilitate the participation of Kazakhstani producers in the “Halal Indo Expo 2025” exhibition this September, and to continue discussions on proposed investment projects in oil and gas, mining, renewable energy, and infrastructure sectors. The sides also agreed to organize targeted B2B meetings by industry sectors between the business communities of the two countries to further discuss potential trade and investment agreements.
Such meetings, supported by the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan and “Atameken”, serve as a “Business Junction” and contribute practically to expanding Kazakhstan’s trade and economic cooperation platform with foreign countries.
