On 24 February 2026, a meeting was held between Serik Amirov, Special Representative of the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan in ASEAN countries, and Isatay Adresov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Almaty Invest.

During the meeting, Serik Amirov noted that there are strategic imperatives for ASEAN countries to deepen cooperation with Kazakhstan. This will enable companies from Southeast Asia to expand the potential of transport routes, which will undoubtedly contribute to economic growth and development.

According to official data, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and ASEAN countries in 2024 amounted to approximately USD 2 billion 740 million. Of this amount, exports totaled USD 1 billion 375 million, while imports amounted to USD 1 billion 365 million. The total inflow of FDI into Kazakhstan from ASEAN countries in 2024 reached USD 711.8 million. These figures undoubtedly have significant growth potential.

He also emphasized that micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) play an important role in the economic development of ASEAN member states. They account for between 97.2% and 99.9% of all companies. MSMEs provide approximately 85% of employment, 44.8% of GDP, and 18% of national exports in the region.

Based on existing experience, Serik Amirov proposed considering the establishment of the Almaty B2B Hub as an effective mechanism for systematic interaction between local and foreign business communities.

In turn, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board Isatay Adresov presented the opportunities of Almaty Invest for attracting foreign investors, as well as prospective projects for investment cooperation in the fields of information technology and artificial intelligence development, public transport, logistics, infrastructure, green energy, food production, light industry, and other sectors.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to hold an online B2B networking session with representatives of Thai businesses in March 2026, to support projects for which preliminary agreements were reached during the meeting with business representatives of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam held in January this year, as well as to jointly prepare visits of business delegations from Southeast Asia in March–April 2026.
