KazCIC Presents Prospects for Cooperation with European Businesses at the Eurochambres Meeting in Valencia

On 30 September 2026, Dana Kassymova, Advisor to the Chairman of the Board and Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan, took part in the high-level working breakfast “Eurochambres — Central Asia” in Valencia, Spain, held as part of the Eurochambres Congress 2026.

The meeting brought together the leadership of Eurochambres, representatives of the European Union, the chambers of commerce and industry of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, and the European business community. Discussions focused on developing trade and economic ties between Europe and Central Asia, investment cooperation and strengthening collaboration between chambers.

Welcome remarks were delivered by Eurochambres President Vladimír Dlouhý and EU Special Representative for Central Asia Eduards Stiprais. Participants also included Eurochambres Deputy President and President of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Aigars Rostovskis, Eurochambres CEO Ben Butters, and representatives of chambers from Belgium, Germany, Poland, Spain, Türkiye, Ukraine and Georgia.

In her address, Dana Kassymova presented the main areas of activity of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Atameken” and the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan, the country’s investment opportunities and promising areas of cooperation with European partners. Particular attention was paid to Kazakhstan’s trade relations with the European Union. According to the figures presented in her address, Kazakhstan accounts for approximately 80% of Central Asian countries’ total trade with the EU, while bilateral trade exceeded USD 45 billion in 2025. Alongside supplies of raw materials and agricultural products, promising areas of cooperation include industrial partnerships, transport and logistics, digital technologies, green energy and critical minerals.

Dana Kassymova highlighted cooperation under the European Global Gateway strategy and the Team Europe approach, which aim to develop sustainable infrastructure, energy and digital connectivity. For Kazakhstan, these areas involve developing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, known as the Middle Corridor, expanding access to digital services and implementing regional initiatives on water resources, energy and climate change.

Examples of industrial cooperation included collaboration with Stadler Rail AG to renew railway rolling stock and projects to manufacture European agricultural machinery in Kazakhstan. Particular emphasis was placed on the potential for partnerships in critical raw materials, processing and the modernisation of the mining and metallurgical sector. The assembly of German agricultural machinery, including CLAAS, HORSCH and AMAZONE, in Kazakhstan’s regions, as well as major investment projects by leading European brands, also illustrate industrial cooperation.

The address also covered business ties between Kazakhstan and Spain. According to the figures presented, trade between the two countries totalled approximately USD 2 billion in 2025, while Spanish investment attracted between 2005 and 2025 amounted to around USD 345 million. Kazakhstan has 62 registered companies with Spanish capital participation, including Xcalibur Multiphysics Group, Técnicas Reunidas and others. The Kazakhstan–Spain Business Council, which facilitates interaction between entrepreneurs from both countries, serves as one of the mechanisms for strengthening cooperation.

Dana Kassymova emphasised the Chamber’s readiness to develop cooperation with the European chamber network and help establish direct contacts between companies. Such cooperation creates additional opportunities to promote Kazakhstani products, attract investment and implement joint projects.

The working breakfast programme included presentations by Central Asian chambers, an open discussion and networking with representatives of Eurochambres and European chambers of commerce and industry.
