On April 29, with the support of the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan, an online meeting was held between representatives of the Akimat of Almaty, the investment promotion center “Almaty Invest,” and the Malaysian company “MOBILUS.” During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in the development of public transport in the southern capital.

For reference: MOBILUS provides integrated innovative solutions in the field of transport development, including hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles, using an Automated Rapid Transit (ART) system. The company has successfully implemented its projects in Malaysia, Türkiye, China, the UAE, and other countries.

During the meeting, Azamat Komekbaiuly, Deputy Head of the Urban Mobility Department of Almaty, noted that the introduction of modern technological solutions to improve the efficiency and environmental sustainability of public transport is one of the key priorities for the development of the мегаполис. At present, the use of high-efficiency transport solutions is particularly relevant for passenger transportation between the city and nearby settlements, as well as along major routes in Almaty.

In turn, Serik Amirov, Special Representative of the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan in ASEAN countries, emphasized the importance of technology transfer, localization of production, and service organization by the Malaysian company, which could provide an additional boost to the development of the country’s transport sector. At the same time, this opens up further opportunities for implementing similar projects in other cities of Kazakhstan as well as in neighboring countries.

For his part, Azamat Abdualiyev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of “Almaty Invest,” presented state support measures for investment projects and confirmed the Center’s readiness to provide the necessary assistance during their implementation.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to study and exchange information on the possibilities of implementing the project in Almaty, as well as to explore the possibility of organizing a visit by the Kazakh side to operational ART system facilities in Malaysia.
