On 23 June 2025, Astana hosted a meeting of the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan with Mr. Mostafa Mohamed Elsaid Katati, Vice-Consul, Executive Assistant to the Ambassador of Algeria to the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During the event, the parties discussed the prospects for the development of trade and economic relations between Kazakhstan and Algeria, and expressed mutual interest in intensifying business dialogue.

Member of the Board - Chief of Staff of the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan Assan Zhakishev noted that trade turnover between the countries demonstrates positive dynamics: at the end of 2023 it was about 76.3 million US dollars, including Kazakh exports - 73.6 million US dollars, imports from Algeria - 2.7 million US dollars. At the same time, the potential for a significant expansion of bilateral co-operation remains.

"Algeria is of particular interest to Kazakhstani business as a gateway to the North African region, with access to free trade zones, a strategically important location and strong industrial potential. Kazakhstan, in turn, offers access to the markets of the EAEU, Central Asia and China, as well as a stable investment climate," Assan Zhakishev said.

The parties agreed to continue cooperation in practical terms, including the organisation of B2B meetings, business missions and expert support for entrepreneurs. The Foreign Trade Chamber confirmed its readiness to support Algerian companies on a ‘one-stop-shop’ basis, providing legal, analytical and logistical advice, as well as assistance in entering the Kazakh market.

The meeting was held in a constructive atmosphere, laying the foundation for deepening economic co-operation and implementing mutually beneficial projects.
