

The Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan participated in the meeting of the Indian-Central Asian Business Council in New Delhi

On June 5, 2025, a meeting of the Indian-Central Asian Business Council was held in New Delhi, organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India. The event was attended by delegations from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
On behalf of theChamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan, Board Member and Chief of Staff Assan Zhakishev attended the event. As part of the Business Council's program, ways to expand trade and economic cooperation between India and Central Asian countries were discussed.
The official part of the meeting was opened by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of India, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. Welcoming speeches were also delivered by the heads of foreign ministries of Central Asian countries, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu. The Kazakh Foreign Minister stressed that the trade turnover between the two countries last year amounted to about 1 billion US dollars, and the total volume of investments from India to Kazakhstan over the past 20 years has exceeded 450 million US dollars.
During the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan. The document was signed in order to expand and develop mutually beneficial trade, economic and scientific cooperation between enterprises of both countries.
In addition, the importance of the participation of the business circles of the two countries in the development of business relations was noted. Today, more than 600 Indian companies operate in Kazakhstan in such areas as pharmaceuticals, mining and food production.
In conclusion, the participants held B2B meetings and participated in a business dinner, discussing specific formats of cooperation between companies in the region and Indian businesses. The India-Central Asia Business Council has confirmed its importance as an effective mechanism for promoting economic partnership at the private sector level.
