On July 30, 2025, a working meeting was held in Astana between Murat Karimsakov, Chairman of the Board of the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan, and H.E. Jaap Ora, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Estonia to the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral economic cooperation, emphasizing the importance of institutional strengthening of business ties between Kazakhstan and Estonia.

Murat Karimsakov noted that despite the challenging international environment, Kazakhstan and Estonia maintain a constructive approach to the development of mutually beneficial partnerships. In 2024, the volume of bilateral trade amounted to USD 71.7 million, including USD 38.7 million in exports from Kazakhstan and USD 33 million in imports from Estonia. The stable trade dynamics, as well as the presence of 74 enterprises operating in Kazakhstan with Estonian capital, confirm the high level of trust between the business communities of the two countries.

During the meeting, Ambassador Jaap Ora proposed the initiative to establish a Business Council between the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan and the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. According to him, this mechanism would allow for building a sustainable dialogue between entrepreneurs, ensuring regular information exchange, jointly overcoming barriers, and facilitating the launch of new investment and trade projects.

Murat Karimssakov supported this initiative, stressing that the establishment of the Business Council would be an important step in advancing practical cooperation between Kazakhstan and Estonia and would further deepen bilateral business relations.

The parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in intensifying business dialogue and continuing joint work through the Kazakhstan-Estonia Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, whose latest meeting was held in January this year in Tallinn.

The Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan regards Estonia as one of the promising partners in the EU region and believes that the creation of the Business Council will be an important step towards strengthening practical cooperation between the two countries.
