On August 27, 2025, Astana hosted the Kazakhstan–Jordan Business Forum, which became an important platform for expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation between the two countries.

A landmark event of the forum was the participation of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan, which highlighted the high level of trust and the strategic nature of bilateral relations.

The forum was also attended by representatives of government bodies and the business community of Kazakhstan and Jordan. Among them were Gabidulla Ospanqulov, Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan; Fathi Al-Jaghbir, Chairman of the Jordan Chamber of Industry; Khalil Abdel Rahman, Chairman of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce; as well as leaders of business associations and companies.

With a welcoming address to the participants, Assan Zhakishev, Board Member – Chief of Staff of the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan, spoke.

“Jordan is Kazakhstan’s strategic partner in the Middle East. Despite our strong ties, the level of mutual trade has not yet reached its potential. Together, we can expand cooperation in areas such as pharmaceuticals, tourism, logistics, and agriculture. The forum will be an important step towards developing sustainable and strategic projects,” noted Assan Zhakishev.

Special attention within the forum was given to the outcomes of the Fourth Meeting of the Kazakhstan–Jordan Business Council, held on August 19, 2025. More than 30 representatives from the private and public sectors took part in the meeting. Among the recommendations developed were the organization of joint exhibitions in Astana and Amman, data exchange between national investment platforms, as well as the consideration of opening a Jordanian trade office in Kazakhstan.

The forum also provided an opportunity to discuss prospects for cooperation in infrastructure, agrotechnologies, and renewable energy.
