

Kazakhstan and Vietnam agreed on new measures to increase trade turnover

Today, the 11th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the two countries was held with the participation of the Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Arman Shakkaliyev and the Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam Nguyen Hong Zien.
The work of the Intergovernmental Commission was attended by the Head of the Office of the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan Asan Zhakishev, representatives of interested government agencies and organizations of Kazakhstan and Vietnam.
During the meeting, the participants discussed measures to intensify trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. First of all, the exchange of lists of potential export goods for use by interested enterprises. Moreover, the parties will resume work on the creation of the Kazakhstan-Vietnam Business Council and the issue of signing a Memorandum between the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vietnam.
Special attention was also paid to the issue of increasing Kazakhstan's exports to Vietnam, including coal, rare earth metals, grain, flour, oilseeds and military products.
According to statistics, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Vietnam in 2023 increased by 85.4% and amounted to $979.2 million (in 2022 - $528.3 million).
