The Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan Discussed Prospects for Bilateral Cooperation with the Ambassador of El Salvador
On April 16, 2026, a meeting was held in Astana between Diana Zhakutova, Director of the Department of International Cooperation of The Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan, and H.E. Yuri Pavel Santacruz Perdomo, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of El Salvador to the Russian Federation and concurrently accredited to the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Opening the meeting, Diana Zhakutova noted that the current dialogue is considered an important step toward building systematic trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and El Salvador. She emphasized that despite the currently limited trade turnover, a basic structure of mutual trade has already been formed, which can serve as a foundation for further expansion of cooperation. In particular, Kazakhstan’s exports are mainly represented by tantalum and related products, while imports include knitwear, plastic products, and coffee.
According to her, the potential for cooperation is significantly broader than the current indicators suggest. Kazakhstan has a well-developed industrial and raw material base, including metallurgy, the chemical industry, and the agro-industrial complex, while El Salvador is of interest as a supplier of light industry and agricultural products, as well as a promising partner in developing interregional trade links. In this regard, The Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan expressed its readiness to act as an operational platform for cooperation by facilitating B2B meetings, supporting export-import projects, providing advisory and legal assistance to businesses, and assisting in finding reliable partners.
In turn, Yuri Pavel Santacruz Perdomo expressed El Salvador’s interest in developing cooperation with Kazakhstan and expanding trade and economic ties. He proposed considering the possibility of increasing imports from El Salvador, including supplies of coffee, chocolate, and premium alcoholic beverages, highlighting the strong potential of these products in the Kazakhstani market.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to further develop dialogue, elaborate concrete areas of cooperation, and strengthen partnership ties between the business communities of the two countries.
