Kazakhstan and Indonesia Expand Business Cooperation: Meeting with Indonesian Delegation Held in Astana

On May 11, 2026, a meeting was held in Astana between the Chairman of the Board of the Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan, Murat Karimsakov, and a delegation of the Republic of Indonesia led by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Airlangga Hartarto.

The meeting was attended by Vice Minister of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Asan Darbayev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of Kazakhstan Dr. Mohamad Fadjrul Rahman, Secretary General of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Susiwijono Moegiarso, and Special Advisor to the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Buhyung Lee.

During the talks, the parties discussed prospects for the development of trade, economic and investment cooperation between Kazakhstan and Indonesia, as well as issues related to expanding interaction between the business communities of the two countries. Particular attention was paid to the establishment of joint ventures, the development of cooperation in mechanical engineering, mineral processing, agro-industrial complex, tourism, and the promotion of projects in Indonesia’s special economic zones.

Within the framework of the meeting, Murat Karimsakov emphasized the importance of strengthening direct contacts between entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan and Indonesia, as well as the role of the Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan in supporting international projects and assisting businesses.

“We view the establishment of the Kazakhstan–Indonesia Business Council as a key instrument for engaging the private sector and promoting concrete business ties. The National Chamber of Entrepreneurs ‘Atameken’ and the Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan are ready to serve as a bridge between the business communities of Kazakhstan and Indonesia by supporting B2B contacts and promoting joint projects,” Murat Karimsakov emphasized.

In addition, the parties discussed the progress of cooperation between the Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), including preparations for signing a memorandum of understanding and prospects for establishing the Kazakhstan–Indonesia Business Council.

 

Following the meeting, the participants confirmed their interest in further developing the strategic partnership, expanding business contacts, and implementing joint investment initiatives between Kazakhstan and Indonesia.
