Kanat Sharlapayev Held a Series of Meetings in Shanghai and Participated in a Roundtable Attended by the Head of State

During his working visit to Shanghai, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Atameken” Kanat Sharlapayev held a series of meetings aimed at advancing trade, economic, and investment cooperation between Kazakhstan and China.

One of the key events on the business agenda was a meeting with Yao Sai, Founder and Head of the Silk Road Golden Bridge International Cooperation Center. The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in digital trade, support for Chinese companies entering the Kazakh market, and the expansion of partnerships between the business communities of Kazakhstan and China within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Continuing the visit programme, Kanat Sharlapayev took part in a roundtable attended by President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who arrived in China for a working visit at the invitation of President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping.

The event brought together executives of leading Chinese companies, representatives of government agencies, and business communities of the two countries. The participants discussed prospects for expanding investment cooperation, industrial collaboration, the introduction of digital solutions, the development of artificial intelligence, transport and logistics infrastructure, as well as the implementation of joint projects across various sectors of the economy.

Following the roundtable, a ceremony for the exchange of commercial documents was held. As part of the Head of State’s working visit to Shanghai, more than 70 commercial agreements worth over USD 15 billion in total were signed.

China remains one of Kazakhstan’s key trade and economic partners. By the end of 2025, bilateral trade had reached USD 49 billion, while the volume of Chinese investment in Kazakhstan’s economy exceeded USD 30 billion. Today, more than 8,500 enterprises with Chinese capital are successfully operating in the country.
