The Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan Participates in the Fifth Meeting of the Kazakhstan–UK Business Council

The fifth meeting of the Kazakhstan–UK Business Council took place in Astana on 8 October 2026, bringing together more than 100 representatives of government bodies, business communities and financial institutions from Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom.

Murat Karimsakov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs “Atameken” and Chairman of the Board of the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan, attended the event, which was hosted by JSC Samruk-Kazyna.

Opening remarks were delivered by Nurlan Zhakupov, Chairman of the Board of JSC Samruk-Kazyna; Anas Sarwar, UK Minister for Trade; Alibek Bakayev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to the United Kingdom; and Sally Axworthy, British Ambassador to Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, participants discussed prospects for further expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom. Particular attention was paid to developing partnerships in critical minerals, transport and logistics, aviation, infrastructure, financial services and digital transformation. The implementation of the Alatau City project was one of the key items on the agenda. Representatives of both countries considered the city’s development prospects, opportunities to attract international investment and the application of advanced British expertise in building modern urban infrastructure.

KazCIC’s participation in the Kazakhstan–UK Business Council meeting supports its objectives of strengthening international business ties, helping Kazakh companies enter overseas markets and developing practical cooperation with foreign partners.

The meeting provided a platform for exchanging views on current issues in bilateral economic cooperation and identifying promising areas for further engagement between the business communities of Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom.
