The Establishment of the Kazakhstan–Oman Business Council Discussed in Astana

On 3 July 2026, a meeting was held at the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Atameken" between Murat Karimsakov, Chairman of the Board of The Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan, and Alibek Kuantyrov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The meeting was also attended by Diana Zhakutova, Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan, Asemkan Smagulov, Deputy Director of the Third Asia Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Talgat Iliyas, Adviser to the Third Asia Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Nikita Malchikov, nominee for the position of the Kazakh Co-Chair of the Kazakhstan–Oman Business Council.

The meeting focused on strengthening trade and economic cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Sultanate of Oman. Particular attention was given to the establishment of the Kazakhstan–Oman Business Council, which is expected to serve as an effective platform for fostering direct cooperation between the business communities of the two countries. The participants also discussed organizational aspects related to the formation of the Council, including the appointment of co-chairs from both the Kazakh and Omani sides.

The participants emphasized that the establishment of the Kazakhstan–Oman Business Council would contribute to strengthening business ties, expanding investment cooperation, identifying new areas of collaboration between entrepreneurs, and facilitating the implementation of joint projects.

According to the results of January–April 2026, bilateral trade between Kazakhstan and Oman amounted to USD 238.1 thousand. Kazakhstan's principal exports to Oman include parts for electrical control apparatus, electrical signalling and traffic control equipment, and articles of plastics. Imports from Oman are primarily represented by perfumes and toilet waters, cosmetic products, soap, and copper concentrates.
