Networking Session: Prospects for Business Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Vietnam Discussed

On January 27 of the current year, with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan, a networking session was held at the premises of the Regional Office of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs “Atameken” in Almaty with representatives of the Vietnam National Entrepreneurs Association (VINEN).

In his welcoming remarks, the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Kanat Tumysh, noted the dynamic development of bilateral relations and emphasized the importance of further strengthening trade and economic partnership. Currently, two companies with Kazakhstani capital participation ⁠⁠ «Cottecons» and «Kusto Group» ⁠⁠ are operating in Vietnam. In addition, six investment projects involving Vietnamese companies, including «VinGroup», «Sovico Group», «Crystal Bay Tourism Group», «ROX Group, and «Mareven Food Central», are currently being implemented in Kazakhstan. The existing Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union creates favorable conditions for reducing trade barriers and developing logistics links.

The President of «VINEN», Dinh Viet Hoa, emphasized the high potential for cooperation. He confirmed his readiness to expand interaction and to hold regular B2B events between the business communities of the two countries. He also highlighted the importance of experience sharing, market research, and organizing joint training programs, and invited Kazakhstani companies to participate in business events organized by the Vietnamese side.

According to Serik Amirov, Special Representative of the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan in ASEAN countries, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, with a population of approximately 102.3 million, led ASEAN in GDP growth last year. Vietnam’s GDP grew by 8.02 percent, reaching USD 514 billion. In 2025, the volume of attracted foreign investment reached USD 38.4 billion, while the country’s foreign trade turnover exceeded USD 930 billion. Undoubtedly, Vietnam represents significant potential for mutually beneficial cooperation.

For reference: According to official data, Kazakhstan–Vietnam foreign trade turnover for the first 11 months of 2025 amounted to approximately USD 737.3 million, including exports of USD 109.1 million and imports of USD 628.2 million.

During the meeting, Oleg Rudenko, Deputy Director of the Regional Office of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs “Atameken,” presented opportunities for providing support in establishing business contacts, stimulating trade, and attracting investments and technologies from Vietnam to Kazakhstan.

In turn, Vu Duc Zan, Chairman of the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association, noted the high potential for industrial cooperation. The parties agreed to jointly explore opportunities for the supply of raw materials and finished products, as well as the establishment of joint ventures.

As part of the event, Isatai Adresov, representative of  «Almaty Invest», and Gulmira Yusupova, representative of the «Association of Exporters of the Republic of Kazakhstan», presented potential investment projects and export product offerings of Kazakhstan for possible supply to Vietnam.

Following the B2B meetings, preliminary agreements were reached between Kazakhstani and Vietnamese companies on further cooperation and the implementation of joint projects in the fields of light industry, food production, agriculture, tourism, education, information technology, healthcare, and other sectors. It was also agreed to subsequently hold targeted B2B meetings by individual sectors of the economy between the business communities of the two countries for a more detailed discussion of potential investment and trade agreements.
