On April 26-27, 2025, an Economic Forum was held in the Turkish region of Palandoken, bringing together representatives of governments and business circles. The high-level event has become an important platform for discussing investment cooperation and expanding trade and economic ties.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan delivered a welcoming video message to the forum participants. Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz and the heads of ministries also visited the forum, confirming the high level of political support for the event.

Asan Zhakishev, Chief of Staff of the Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan, took part in the investment session, where he presented the dynamics and prospects of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Turkey. He noted that Turkey is one of the five largest trading partners of Kazakhstan: by the end of 2024, the volume of bilateral trade amounted to about 5 billion US dollars, of which 3.3 billion were exports from Kazakhstan and 1.7 billion were imports from Turkey.

From 2005 to 2024, more than 5.2 billion US dollars of Turkish investments were attracted to the economy of Kazakhstan, and Kazakh investments in Turkey amounted to about 2.2 billion US dollars. In the third quarter of 2024 alone, Kazakhstan attracted USD 464 million in foreign direct investment from Turkey.

Currently, there are 3,538 enterprises in Kazakhstan with the participation of Turkish capital, mainly in the fields of trade, construction and services. In addition, 78 joint projects worth over $3 billion have been implemented, and 39 more projects with a total value of about $4.2 billion are under implementation.

Asan Zhakishev called the Alarko Holding project, which invests 650 million US dollars in the construction of greenhouse complexes in southern Kazakhstan, a vivid example of successful cooperation, which demonstrates the potential of agro-industrial cooperation and sustainable technologies.

The speech also highlighted the important role of the Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan in supporting investment projects, supporting small and medium-sized businesses, providing legal and consulting services, and helping to eliminate administrative barriers to business. The Chamber actively cooperates with international organizations, including the International Chamber of Commerce, the SCO, the AIFC, CICA and others, which contributes to the expansion of foreign economic cooperation.

The forum in Erzurum was another step in strengthening business dialogue and confirmed the countries' interest in developing a sustainable and mutually beneficial partnership.
