Kazakhstan and Oman Strengthen Business Partnership
The Kazakhstan–Oman Business Forum took place in Astana on 6 October 2026, with the participation of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tarik. Held as part of the Omani Head of State’s state visit to Kazakhstan, the forum focused on developing trade, economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.
The event brought together representatives of chambers of commerce, development institutions, investment organizations and companies from Kazakhstan and Oman. The programme included B2B meetings and panel sessions on food security, agri-food trade, the development of transport and logistics systems, and green energy.
Murat Karimsakov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Atameken” and Chairman of the Board of the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan, addressed the opening of the forum. He emphasized that the development of bilateral relations at the highest level creates new business opportunities, while the main task of the business communities is to translate this progress into concrete trade and investment projects.

“Our main task is to translate high-level dialogue into concrete trade and investment partnership. I am confident that the Kazakhstan–Oman Business Council will become a strong bridge connecting the business communities of Astana and Muscat,” said Murat Karimsakov.
In his remarks, Murat Karimsakov outlined four priority areas for cooperation: food security and agribusiness; investment and investor support; transport and logistics; and energy and green technologies.
In the agri-food sector, he highlighted Kazakhstan’s readiness to increase supplies of wheat, flour, meat and organic products to Oman and the Gulf countries. Omani ports were identified as promising distribution hubs for bringing Kazakh products to markets in the Middle East and East Africa.
To implement joint initiatives, the Chairman of the Board of KazCIC proposed establishing specialized working groups under the Business Council covering agriculture, logistics, energy and natural resources. Their work would help accelerate the transition from discussions to the preparation and signing of agreements.
Particular attention was paid to supporting Omani investors in Kazakhstan through a one-stop-shop approach, as well as developing transport routes using the International North–South Transport Corridor, ASYAD Group’s infrastructure and the ports of Sohar, Salalah and Duqm. Targeted visits by Omani business representatives were proposed to provide firsthand insight into the capabilities of Kazakh enterprises.
In the energy sector, joint projects in renewable energy, green hydrogen, clean technologies and decarbonization were identified as promising areas of cooperation.
On 5 October 2026, an Agreement on the Establishment of the Kazakhstan–Oman Business Council was signed between the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Atameken” and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry. A Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The ceremonial exchange of folders containing the signed documents took place today on the sidelines of the Kazakhstan–Oman Business Forum.

The Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan reaffirmed its readiness to facilitate direct business ties and support initiatives aimed at expanding bilateral trade and investment partnership.
