KazCIC and the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce Sign a Memorandum of Understanding
On 17 October 2026, Astana hosted a meeting between Murat Karimsakov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs “Atameken” and Chairman of the Board of the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan, and a delegation from the Kingdom of Cambodia led by Kith Meng, President of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce. Participants explored prospects for trade and economic cooperation and for establishing direct contacts between entrepreneurs of the two countries. The meeting also brought together representatives of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, the Cambodian Oknha Association, and the Cambodian and Kazakh business communities.
During the event, KazCIC and the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening business ties and developing cooperation between entrepreneurs of the two countries.
Welcoming the delegation, Murat Karimsakov noted that the friendly relations between Kazakhstan and Cambodia provide a foundation for expanding business partnerships. The next step should be to develop practical cooperation between companies.

“Today, we have a specific task: to translate this institutional framework into concrete contracts, increased bilateral trade and the implementation of investment projects,” Murat Karimsakov emphasised.
The head of KazCIC identified light industry, food processing, agriculture, tourism, passenger transport and information technology as promising areas for cooperation.
In light industry, the focus was on establishing direct, long-term ties between Cambodian textile, knitwear and footwear manufacturers and Kazakh retail chains and distributors. In the agricultural and food sector, opportunities were highlighted for supplying Kazakh wheat, flour and oilseed products to Cambodia, importing tropical agricultural products in return, and implementing joint food processing and confectionery production projects.
Murat Karimsakov paid particular attention to tourism and air connectivity. The experience of charter programmes linking Astana and Almaty with Sihanoukville offers prospects for further developing passenger services and creating joint tourist itineraries. In the digital sector, opportunities were identified for exchanging expertise and introducing solutions for trade and business.
“As a chamber, we have an established mechanism that enables us to promptly identify suitable, vetted business partners in response to specific business needs. This allows us to go beyond in-person visits and maintain continuous, direct dialogue between entrepreneurs of the two countries,” Murat Karimsakov said.
KazCIC expressed its readiness to assist in identifying business partners, organise B2B meetings, including online, and support joint projects. As a practical measure, it proposed establishing a regular exchange of commercial offers and matching companies with business partners according to their specific needs.
