On September 25, 2025, in Astana, Chairman of the Board of the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan, Murat Karymsakov, met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to Kazakhstan, Egidijus Navikas.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation, placing special emphasis on expanding trade and economic relations and creating new mechanisms to enhance business ties. The discussions also included preparations for the Kazakhstan–Lithuania Business Forum, which will take place on October 1 in Almaty within the framework of the Silk Way Forum.

Murat Karymsakov stressed that Kazakhstan and Lithuania are united by strong cooperation, strengthened by the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation as well as the Kazakhstan–Lithuania Business Forum and Business Council. He emphasized that the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan is ready to actively participate in joint initiatives and events.

In 2024, the total trade turnover between the two countries amounted to USD 152.6 million.

Special attention was given to the development of transport and logistics cooperation. The parties discussed the use of Klaipeda Port as a “European gateway” for Kazakhstani exports, as well as new opportunities for multimodal transportation through the ports of Aktau and Kuryk. It was noted that the growth of container traffic creates favorable conditions for the establishment of regular services with access to the Baltic Sea.

Murat Karymsakov also underlined the importance of expanding the agenda of future Business Council meetings. In addition to transport and logistics, he proposed including such sectors as trade, information technology, and agriculture. Egidijus Navikas supported this proposal and invited Kazakhstani companies to participate in a business mission to Lithuania next year.

In conclusion, both sides highlighted the importance of further strengthening economic ties and emphasized the need to increase the potential for bilateral trade.
