Russian-Kazakh Business Council Holds Meeting in Omsk

As part of the XXII Russia–Kazakhstan Interregional Cooperation Forum, held in Omsk on July 24–25, 2026, an extended meeting of the Russian-Kazakh Business Council took place under the theme "Business Partnership between Russia and Kazakhstan: New Growth Routes."

The event brought together representatives of government agencies, leading Kazakh and Russian companies, industry associations, development institutions, chambers of commerce and industry, and the expert communities of both countries. The Kazakh delegation included more than 70 business executives interested in holding substantive negotiations, concluding contracts, and implementing joint investment projects.

Representing the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan, Barzoni Nabiev, Deputy Co-Chairman of the Russian-Kazakh Business Council, participated in the meeting. Addressing the participants, he highlighted Omsk's special role as a major economic and transport hub linking Kazakhstan and Russia.

The discussions focused on the transition from traditional trade to deeper investment and technological cooperation. It was emphasized that the Russian-Kazakh Business Council serves as a practical mechanism for supporting businesses by helping remove administrative and regulatory barriers, facilitating joint projects, and promoting direct interaction between entrepreneurs and government authorities of the two countries.

One of the key topics of discussion was the development of industrial cooperation. Kazakhstan was presented as a promising platform for the localization of joint manufacturing facilities and for expanding into third-country markets. Particular attention was paid to the development of production value chains in mechanical engineering, metallurgy, the electrical engineering industry, and construction materials manufacturing, as well as to leveraging the potential of special economic zones and government support institutions.

The participants also discussed prospects for cooperation in strategic raw materials and critical minerals. The combination of Kazakhstan's resource base and the technological capabilities of the two countries creates additional opportunities for developing processing industries, strengthening industrial security, and establishing independent value chains for high-tech industries.

A separate session focused on the development of cross-border logistics and transport infrastructure. The parties discussed the modernization of border crossing points, the removal of existing infrastructure constraints, and the creation of faster and more cost-effective freight transport routes. In this context, the role of the North Kazakhstan, Pavlodar, Kostanay, and Abai regions in shaping the Eurasian transit network, as well as the prospects for developing cargo shipping along the Irtysh River, was highlighted.

Following the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening direct ties between the business communities of Kazakhstan and Russia, expanding long-term industrial and investment cooperation, and implementing practical projects that will contribute to increased bilateral trade and broader interregional cooperation.
