Kazakhstan and Montenegro Expand Business Cooperation: Roundtable Brings Together Business Communities of Both Countries in Astana
Astana, June 19, 2026 – A Kazakhstan–Montenegro Roundtable was held at the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Atameken”. The event was organized by the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan in cooperation with the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro. Held within the framework of the official visit of the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, to the Republic of Kazakhstan, the roundtable served as an important platform for strengthening direct contacts between the business communities of the two countries.

The event brought together representatives of government agencies, national companies, development institutions, industry associations, and businesses from Kazakhstan and Montenegro.
Welcoming remarks were delivered by Murat Karimsakov, Chairman of the Board of the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan, and Nina Drakić, President of the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro.
Opening the event, Murat Karimsakov noted that the roundtable represents a historic milestone in the development of Kazakhstan–Montenegro business relations and marks a new stage of practical cooperation between the entrepreneurial communities of the two countries.
Particular attention was paid to the prospects for cooperation in tourism, investment, construction and real estate, logistics and maritime transportation, information and communication technologies, as well as the agro-industrial sector.
As part of the business program, presentations on the tourism and investment potential of both countries were delivered. The Kazakh side was represented by Talgat Gazizov, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC “NC Kazakh Tourism”, and representatives of JSC “NC KAZAKH INVEST”, who presented opportunities for foreign investors and promising areas of economic cooperation. Montenegro was represented by officials from the National Tourism Organisation of Montenegro and the Montenegro Investment Agency.
A key component of the event was a series of sector-specific business dialogues, during which representatives of companies from both countries discussed practical opportunities for cooperation in tourism and hospitality, construction and development, transport and logistics, digital technologies, and agriculture. The direct dialogue format enabled participants to exchange experience, present their projects, and identify promising avenues for future cooperation.
Addressing the participants, Murat Karimsakov emphasized that Kazakhstan views Montenegro as a promising partner in Southeast Europe and an important gateway for expanding business relations with European markets. In turn, Kazakhstan offers the advantages of the largest economy in Central Asia, a favorable investment climate, advanced transit infrastructure, and access to the market of the Eurasian Economic Union.
Special attention was also given to transport and logistics cooperation. Participants noted that Kazakhstan currently handles approximately 70 percent of all overland transit between China and Europe and continues to actively develop the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. In this context, cooperation with Montenegro, which possesses important port and logistics infrastructure in the Adriatic region, opens up new opportunities for international transportation and the development of diversified logistics chains.
An important highlight of the roundtable was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Chamber of International Commerce of Kazakhstan and the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro.

The document is aimed at fostering direct contacts between entrepreneurs of the two countries, organizing joint business missions and B2B meetings, facilitating the exchange of commercial information, supporting investment and export projects, and establishing a sustainable institutional dialogue between the business communities of Kazakhstan and Montenegro.
The signing of the memorandum marked another important step toward strengthening bilateral economic ties and creating favorable conditions for expanding trade and investment cooperation between Kazakhstan and Montenegro.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in expanding business contacts, strengthening inter-chamber cooperation, and implementing joint initiatives aimed at enhancing economic partnership between the two countries.
The roundtable concluded with a series of bilateral B2B meetings, during which company representatives discussed cooperation prospects, established new business contacts, and explored opportunities for the implementation of joint projects.
